With a target of 15,000 trees to grow each year, we rely heavily on the support of voluntary aid in order to continue and grow our project. These are some of the ways in which you may help
Becoming a Volunteer
If you have some time to spare and don't mind getting your hands dirty, why not come along and help us pot up the seedlings or tend the young saplings in the field. There are also many other tasks still to be done in order to complete the site facilities, these include building shelving in the polytunnel, making repairs to the walls around the field, building a soil and manure store. We can offer a friendly welcome, a good chat and an opportunity to be out in the fresh air. Please contact us if you are interested.
Making a donation
Being a voluntary group, we rely on donations. We still need the following to help expand our activities.
Good quality topsoil
Potting compost
Garden shovels / spades
Hand trowels and forks
Wheel barrows / garden trolley
Tree guards
Money to buy soil
Getting your school or group involved
There are many ways of getting involved and all age groups can do something whilst at the same time learning about the environment and in particular the growth of trees. Infants and junior school age children can help collect seeds, sow them and follow the growth of the tree from seed to seedling and sapling to tree. Children may wish to have their own tree and we can cater for this by labelling the seed or tree with the child's name. Our emphasis is on a connection with nature using a simple, practical approach.
