Trees of Light was founded in January 2006 by David and Cathy Sergeant.

Trees of Light is a not for profit organisation, developed from an idea started in 2000 by growing Oak trees from home. We expanded slowly and now have a tree nursery in the Halifax area where we are growing indigenous trees from seed, as well as a small number of shrubs. Trees of Light welcomes anyone, who is interested in their environment, both young and old, to come along and get involved.

The Trees of Light trees are grown from seeds or cuttings which have been collected in the local area. Our trees are individually grown with the emphasis on developing our awareness of the environment and the way in which we see it and treat it by re-establishing our connection to nature and the link between trees, birds, animals and people. Thereby enjoying the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits which an opportunity to be 'hands on' provides. There are more details about our mission and beliefs on our project page.
